Former President of The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), Ashish Gujarati, participated and presented several key suggestions.

Key Suggestions by Ashish Gujarati:

  1. Promotion of MSMEs: Advocate for the TUFF and PLI schemes' benefits to extend beyond large industries to include MSMEs, introducing capital subsidies for their growth.

  2. Raw Material Availability: Ensure raw materials, like PTA, are available at globally competitive prices and maintain high quality.

  3. Special PLI Scheme: Introduce a special Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for special yarns not currently manufactured in India.

  4. Import Ban of Fabric: Ban fabric imports to support India's domestic textile and apparel industry.

  5. Subsidy for Water Jet Weaving Machines: Provide special subsidies for Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP) and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems for water jet weaving machines.

  6. Textile Export Target: Increase India's textile export target to 30% by 2030.

  7. Revenue from GST: Allocate 10% of the estimated ₹3 lakh crore GST revenue from textiles (₹30,000 crore) to promote the industry.

Government Response: The government will consider these suggestions to enhance employment rates and support the development and export of the textile industry. These measures are expected to create significant employment opportunities and strengthen India's economy.

The meeting concluded with optimism for the future of India's textile industry, with stakeholders anticipating positive policy changes and increased support for both large-scale and MSME textile enterprises.
