Vivinet Exhibition and SGCCI Garment & Sourcing Expo 2024 Set to Boost Surat's Textile Industry

Surat: In a bid to energize South Gujarat's textile industry, the 'Vivinet Exhibition 2024' and 'SGCCI Garment and Sourcing Expo 2024' will take place at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Sarsana, from September 20 to 21. These events are organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and aim to provide a platform for the region’s weaving, knitting, and garment industries.

SGCCI President Vijay Mewawala emphasized the importance of this ambitious exhibition, noting that the goal is to give a new direction to Surat's textile industry. "Through the Vivinet Exhibition, we aim to provide a B2B platform for weavers, knitters, and technical textile manufacturers in Surat and South Gujarat. Given the success of previous editions, this year marks the third installment of the Vivinet Exhibition," Mewawala stated.

Among the key products on display will be hospital curtains (water-resistant, antimicrobial, and fire-retardant), a niche product manufactured by a few companies in Surat. Other items include shower curtains, blackout and whiteout fabrics, microfiber polyester fabrics, microfiber bedsheets, comforter fabrics, and digitally printed blackout fabrics. These products are produced by integrated units in Surat that combine weaving, knitting, and stitching under one roof.

SGCCI Vice President Nikhil Madrasi shared that the previous edition of the exhibition generated over ₹350 crore in business for exhibitors. This year, with a larger venue, the expectations are higher, with projected business exceeding ₹600 crore. Madrasi also highlighted the participation of yarn brokers, who act as crucial intermediaries between textile manufacturers and garment traders, and how the exhibition will offer them a platform to explore new varieties and innovations.

Former SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia announced that the inaugural ceremony for the Vivinet and SGCCI Garment & Sourcing Expo will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Hall-A, Sarsana. The event will feature former Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshana Jardosh, and retired Additional Textile Commissioner, S.P. Verma, as the chief guests.

SGCCI Honorary Secretary Nirav Mandalewala and Honorary Treasurer Mrunal Shukla revealed that a total of 115 exhibitors will be participating in the Vivinet Exhibition. The event will provide them with direct access to wholesalers, retailers, fashion houses, designers, and manufacturers from across India.

Chairman of SGCCI’s exhibitions, Bijal Zariwala, described the event as a "one-stop-shop" for manufacturers to showcase their latest collections of fabrics, including plain, twill, satin, and home furnishing textiles. The exhibition is expected to attract serious buyers from major textile hubs across India, including Indore, Cuttack, Jaipur, Pune, Banaras, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Delhi.
