Surat Health Department Samples Ice Cream Amid Health Concerns

The Surat Health Department has collected ice cream samples from 14 locations in the city amid rising summer temperatures. This action comes as some vendors are suspected of selling poor-quality ice cream, potentially endangering public health. Samples are being tested for adulteration and fat content to ensure consumer safety.

As the summer heat intensifies in Surat, residents turn to ice cream for relief. However, concerns have been raised about the quality of some ice cream being sold in the city. To address these concerns, the Health Department has taken proactive measures by collecting samples from 14 different locations across Surat.

The samples, gathered from areas such as Udhna, Varachha, Nanpura, Khatodara, Rander, Adajan, and Seemada, have been sent to the Public Health Laboratory for thorough testing. Health officer Jagdish Salunke emphasized the importance of ensuring the quality and safety of ice cream, especially during the summer when its consumption is high.

Salunke stated, "Ice cream is a popular choice during the summer months. Our team has collected samples from various parts of the city today to ensure that they meet safety standards. Any samples found to contain adulterants or exceed the legal limit for fat content will face strict action."

This initiative aims to protect consumers from the potential risks associated with consuming poor-quality ice cream. By conducting these tests, the Health Department aims to maintain the quality and safety of ice cream available in Surat during the summer season.
