Surat Family Tragedy: 8 Drown in Narmada, 1 Rescued, 7 Missing
Tragedy struck a family from Surat as eight members, including children, drowned in the Narmada river near Poicha village in Narmada district. The family had gone to visit the Swaminarayan temple and other religious sites in the area. While bathing in the river, they were swept away by the strong currents.
Locals managed to rescue one family member, but efforts to find the remaining seven, including 45-year-old Bharatbhai Meghabhai Baldania, 12-year-old Arnav Bharatbhai Baldania, and others, have been unsuccessful so far. All the victims were residents of Krishna Park Society, Sania Hemad, Surat, originally from Amreli.
The incident highlights the importance of taking precautions while bathing in rivers, especially during the monsoon season when water levels can rise rapidly. The local fire brigade has been conducting search and rescue operations, but the search for the missing individuals continues. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the need for safety measures when enjoying natural water bodies.
