Surat Textile Hub Prepares for Elective Showdown: 55 Candidates to Battle for 41 FOSTA Seats

SURAT - The stage is set for an electoral face-off as 55 candidates vie for 41 seats in the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTA) elections slated for July 8th at the Vankar Textile Market.

On the closing day for the withdrawal of nominations, 29 candidates opted to rescind their applications, thereby narrowing the field from the initial 94 applicants. The Election Officer has since released the final list of the 55 contenders who will participate in the election.

According to FOSTA election officials, Monday, June 19th marked the deadline for withdrawal of nominations. Of the 94 initial applicants, seven nomination forms were invalidated due to technical glitches, while three candidates chose to bow out on Friday.

The FOSTA office experienced a rush of candidates on Monday, as 29 contenders decided to withdraw their nominations. Following these developments, the election officials released the final list of candidates, setting the stage for the July 8th elections at Vankar Textile Market.

With the withdrawal period over, all eyes are now on the upcoming elections as the remaining 55 candidates prepare for the decisive day. As one of the leading textile trading hubs in the country, the outcome of this election will significantly influence the direction of Surat's textile industry.
