Textile Commissioner Awards Skill Certification to 28 Entrepreneurs in Surat

Surat witnessed a significant step in its textile sector as Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi (IA&AS) awarded "Skill Excellence Certificates" to 28 entrepreneurs on the successful completion of the Textile Advanced Weaving Airjet and Processing Batch. The training program was conducted by the South Gujarat Textile Processors Association (SGTPA) in collaboration with 36T Solutions to empower entrepreneurs in the textile industry.

As per agency report, the event marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Textiles, the Textile Commissioner’s Office (Ahmedabad), and the Powerloom Service Center (Katargam), aiming to further enhance skill development initiatives in the sector.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi, Assistant Director and in-charge of the Powerloom Service Center Nilay H. Pandya, Rajeev Kulkarni from 36T Solutions Surat, SGTPA President Jitendra Vakharia, and Pandesara Industrial Association President Kamalvijay Tulsiyan.

SGTPA President Jitendra Vakharia emphasized the importance of such training programs for new entrepreneurs and expressed plans to expand the initiative further. Kamalvijay Tulsiyan honored Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi with a bouquet, following which she personally handed over certificates to the trained entrepreneurs.

During the interaction, Roop Rashi encouraged the entrepreneurs to leverage government schemes, prioritize quality, and focus on textile exports to strengthen Surat's position as a leading textile brand. She also highlighted the Indian government’s Manufacturing Mission, emphasizing industrial sustainability and modernization.

Following the event, the Textile Commissioner visited the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Pandesara GIDC, where she engaged in discussions with textile processors regarding sustainability and industrial development. She stressed the importance of continuous innovation and efforts to keep the industry competitive on a global scale.

This visit is seen as a crucial step toward shaping Surat’s textile industry for global competitiveness. By effectively utilizing government schemes and training programs, Surat has the potential to emerge as an international textile hub, further strengthening India’s standing in the global textile market.
