Surat: Gazette of Winning Candidates in Municipal Corporation Elections 2026 Received by the Corporation

The official gazette announcing the names of the winning candidates in the Surat Municipal Corporation elections 2026 has finally been received by the municipal administration. This gazette, issued by the Urban Development and Housing Department of the state government based in Gandhinagar, was handed over to Municipal Commissioner M.

Nagarajan on Friday, after which it was sent to the corporation's secretariat department. According to reliable sources, after the election results were declared, the Chief Electoral Officer of Surat sent the list of winning candidates to the State Election Commission. Subsequently, the Deputy Secretary of the state government, Bhavya Mehta, approved the list on May 4, 2026.

With the issuance of the gazette, the process of forming the new body has accelerated. Sources indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party recorded a historic victory in 115 seats in the Surat municipal elections. Following the receipt of the gazette, the secretariat department will write to the municipal commissioner requesting to set a date for the first general meeting.

After that, Municipal Commissioner M. Nagarajan will issue an agenda for convening the new general assembly, electing the mayor and deputy mayor, and forming the standing committee.

Meanwhile, the secretariat department will also send letters to the winning candidates, requesting them to submit the winner's certificate issued by the election officer and complete the biometric process. The formation of the new ruling body in the municipal corporation has now intensified political and administrative activity.
