Surat: Lions Club of Surat East and Red Cross Chauryasi Branch Celebrate World Hand Hygiene Day
The Lions Club of Surat East and the Red Cross Chauryasi Branch organized an awareness program on the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day. The program informed people about the importance of hand hygiene and measures to prevent infections.
Dr. Praful Shiroya mentioned that the main objective of celebrating World Hand Hygiene Day is to prevent the spread of infections and to raise awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap and water for a healthy life. He explained that this campaign, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), plays a significant role in building a 'Healthy India' and a safe society.
Dr. Shiroya emphasized that it is essential to wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. He stated that hand hygiene is one of the most effective measures to protect against pandemics like COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
He noted that the habit of regular hand washing can prevent infections and save many lives. He advised people to wash their hands before eating, before cooking, after using the toilet, after returning home from outside, and after coughing or sneezing.
He highlighted that our hands can be carriers of many diseases, so keeping them clean should be an important daily habit for everyone. The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Officer Commanding of the Women's Unit Rekha Shinde, Lion Kishore Mangrolia, Lion Jagdish Bodra, and Dinesh Patel.
