Surat: Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi advised new councilors: Remember to serve the public, not to be arrogant about the position

Surat. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi conveyed a message of service, humility, and accountability to newly elected councilors and party officials at a public service and honor event in the Majura assembly constituency.

He emphasized that elected representatives should serve the public without the arrogance of power, as both the public and the organization would hold them accountable after five years. Several officials, councilors, and a large number of grassroots workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party were present at the event. Instead of keeping the honors and gifts he received for himself, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed them transparently among the workers and citizens.

The event began in an emotional atmosphere, where Harsh Sanghvi, deviating from protocol, honored the elders of the community by assigning them the responsibility of gift distribution. Five elders, including Kailashji, selected the winners through a draw system. Following this, Sanghvi personally presented gifts and mementos to the winners from the stage.

He stated that the distribution was based on the principles of fairness and equal opportunity to avoid any discrimination. In his address, Harsh Sanghvi advised the new councilors not to carry the burden of being a councilor in their minds, stating that the position is merely an opportunity to serve the public. He noted that many people come and go in politics, but how one interacts with the public defines a true representative.

He warned that any mistreatment of a common citizen would be considered the biggest mistake. Sanghvi remarked that while workers toil day and night to elect leaders, any misconduct by representatives towards the public would render the workers' efforts futile. He highlighted the role of workers as the greatest strength in politics, emphasizing that every victory is backed by the dedication and hard work of grassroots workers.

He reminded the new representatives that a five-year term passes quickly, and both the public and the organization will demand accountability afterward. Delivering a message to the youth, he stated that without the guidance of seniors, the chances of getting lost in politics increase, making experience and discipline essential. During the event, Harsh Sanghvi publicly apologized for not being able to meet workers personally due to his busy schedule.

He expressed that the value of the gifts he received was not important, but the affection associated with them was significant, stating that it all belongs to the workers, and he was merely trying to return it to them. This event in Surat became a topic of discussion as an example of public service, simplicity, and humble leadership.
