Indigenous brands replacing foreign kitchen equipment in luxury hotels, Rajkot entrepreneur leads the way

Rajkot, October 6. There was a time when the dining areas and lounges of luxury hotels were dominated by display food counters and commercial kitchen equipment from brands based in the US, Europe, Japan, China and Hong Kong. However, this trend is changing rapidly as Indian brands are gaining a strong foothold, replacing foreign products with high-quality indigenous alternatives. One of the key figures behind this transformation is Shaileshbhai Piplia, CMD of Rajkot-based Riddhi Display Equipments Pvt. Ltd., who has achieved this success through hard work and innovation.

As per report, Shaileshbhai explained that their equipment is manufactured to match the quality and safety standards of foreign brands but is priced at nearly one-third of the cost. For instance, a display unit from Hong Kong’s Williams costs around Rs 6 lakh, whereas Riddhi Industries offers a similar product for just Rs 2 lakh. Similarly, Italian refrigeration units that cost Rs 4 lakh are produced by the company for only Rs 1.25 lakh.

Having studied only up to class ten, Shaileshbhai has built this enterprise through perseverance and vision. He emphasized that their products are 100 percent customized and focused on continuous innovation, which has enabled them to expand beyond the domestic market to countries like the United States, Canada, Dubai, Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

The company’s young partner, Priyaben Piplia, proudly noted that their indigenous products are strengthening the “Made in India” identity in international markets as well. Riddhi Industries is run as a family business where Shaileshbhai’s wife Hansaben oversees finance and accounts, his son Jay leads procurement, daughter-in-law Priyaben handles project management, and their daughter is working on establishing a new unit in Lucknow. The company has been named “Karm Mandir,” reflecting its family-like culture among employees.

Supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, this homegrown enterprise is capitalizing on the rising demand in the hospitality and food industry. Rajkot’s entrepreneurs are now turning the vision of taking “Made in India” to the global stage into a reality.
