Rajkot’s Lodhika ICDS office hosts Poshan Mahotsav 2025 to promote nutrition awareness

Rajkot – The Taluka-level “Poshan Mahotsav-2025” was organized at the Lodhika ICDS office, focusing on nutrition awareness and healthy dietary practices. The event highlighted the importance of balanced meals, the health benefits of millets such as bajra, and the role of Take Home Ration (THR) in improving community nutrition. Pregnant and lactating mothers were provided with special dietary guidance as part of the initiative.

As per agency report, the programme also carried forward the “Mootapa Mukt Gujarat Abhiyan” (Obesity-Free Gujarat Campaign), encouraging citizens to avoid junk food, reduce sugar and oil consumption, and adopt nutritious lifestyles for children, adolescents and mothers. Messages of “Healthy Mother – Healthy Child” and “Healthy India – Nourished India” were reinforced by the participants.

The event saw the active participation of Lodhika Taluka Panchayat President, the Sarpanch of Chandli village, the Taluka Education Officer, Child Development Project Officer, school inspectors, health workers, Anganwadi sisters and a large number of beneficiaries. Citizens also engaged enthusiastically, taking forward the commitment towards a healthier society.

A culinary competition based on THR and millets added further appeal to the celebration. In the THR category, Aruna Haryani’s Matrushakti Handvo won first prize, Ridhi Laskari’s Bal Shakti Cake took second place, and Date Laddoo secured third. In the millets category, Meena Jadav’s Ragi Chocolate was awarded first prize, Swati Sondarva’s Jowar-Saragva Dhokla stood second, while Kundan Gosai’s Bajra-Rajgira Ghughra won third. All winners were felicitated with certificates.

The festival not only celebrated nutrition but also strengthened community participation in building a healthier and more aware future for mothers, children and families.
