Surat Municipal Corporation's "Project Setu" Empowers Girl Students Through Art
Free Training in Arts and Crafts Opens New Horizons for Girls in Suman Schools
Surat Municipal Corporation has launched "Project Setu," a transformative initiative for the girl students of Suman Schools. This project aims to provide comprehensive development opportunities by offering free training in various arts, including mehndi application, rakhi making, dance, and music.
The program is the brainchild of esteemed artists like Jalpa Thakkar of Culture Signature, Nimishaben Parekh of Mehndi Culture, and Ami Patel of Shilp Maitri. Their goal is to uncover and nurture the hidden talents of these girls, empowering them to become self-reliant and confident in their abilities.
Under "Project Setu," girl students receive training in creating rakhi jewelry, mastering the art of mehndi, and honing their dance and music skills. This initiative not only allows them to explore career paths aligned with their passions but also supports their journey towards financial independence. Furthermore, engaging in artistic pursuits contributes positively to their mental health and well-being.
The project has garnered full support from Surat city mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, which has enabled the smooth operation of training sessions in Suman School No. 07, Suman School No. 10, Dindoli, and Suman School No. 03, Katargam.
Internationally acclaimed mehndi artist Nimishaben Parekh remarked, "Through this project, we aim to recognize and promote the artistic talents of the girl students. So far, we have trained 750 female students and aspire to extend this training to more girls in the future."
"Project Setu" stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment for young girls in Surat, providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive in various artistic disciplines while fostering a strong sense of independence and self-worth.
