SGCCI Celebrates 84th Foundation Day with New Leadership

Surat — The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) celebrated its 84th foundation day on Sunday with great pomp. In a grand ceremony organized on the occasion, Vijay Mevawala took over as the 78th president of the chamber, while Nikhil Madrasi was elected vice-president.

Vijay Mevawala, in his inaugural speech, outlined his vision for the chamber and the industries of South Gujarat. His primary focus will be on making local industries self-reliant, finding permanent solutions to their problems, and contributing to the national goal of 'Developed India @ 2047'.

Mevawala emphasized the 'Think Global, Act Local' policy, aiming to enhance the quality of goods produced in Surat and promote their export to global markets. He believes this initiative will support India's ambition to become the world's third-largest economy.

On the social front, Mevawala announced plans to organize cyber crime awareness programs, conduct tree plantation drives during the monsoon, and support climate management initiatives.

The SGCCI has set several priorities for the coming year, including improving the quality of locally manufactured goods, increasing exports, spreading cyber crime awareness, protecting the environment, organizing conferences in the banking and insurance sectors, showcasing Surat products across the country, and developing a startup ecosystem for the youth.

Additionally, the ceremony included key appointments: Nirav Mandlewala as Honorary Minister, Mrinal Shukla as Honorary Treasurer, and Mrs. Geetaben Ramesh Vaghasiya as President of the Ladies Wing. The chamber also announced plans to organize expos to showcase Surat products and a conference on banking and insurance.

SGCCI, a premier organization of trade and industry in South Gujarat, has played a vital role in the region's development and continues to do so, reflecting its commitment to fostering economic growth and innovation.
