Surat Receives Much-Needed Rainfall

Heavy Rain Brings Relief to Residents and Farmers

Surat Receives Much-Needed Rainfall

Surat city dwellers, who were battling the scorching heat, got relief from rain on Sunday. The rain that started on Saturday evening continued into Sunday, with heavy showers in the afternoon significantly cooling the city.

Farmers had been upset with the delay in the monsoon, which finally resumed in Surat on Saturday, a week after pausing in Navsari. The skies were filled with thick dark clouds, and torrential rain late at night led to flooding in many low-lying areas. However, the one-hour downpour on Sunday afternoon brought substantial relief from the heat.

The rain system has reactivated across the state, with 78 talukas experiencing rainfall in the last 24 hours. Despite this, farmers express concern over the lack of heavy rain, noting that many districts still await the crucial sowing rains.

According to the Meteorological Department, other districts also received sporadic rain. Sagbara taluka in Narmada district reported 2 inches, Kukarmunda taluka in Tapi district saw over 3 inches, and Valsad received 2.5 inches of rain.
