Dehradun : The Tourism Department of Uttarakhand has decided to introduce offline registration for the upcoming Chardham Yatra, in addition to the existing online registration facility. Starting May 8, devotees can register offline at Rahi Motel in Haridwar and the Yatra Registration Office and Transit Camp in Rishikesh.

The offline registration will have a daily limit of 1,000 registrations in Rishikesh and 500 in Haridwar for each Dham. Devotees can register for the pilgrimage to the four Dhams at the registration counters for a maximum of three days in advance.

To facilitate the pilgrimage, the Tourism Department held a meeting with the priests of the Uttarakhand Chardham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat. Nominations of pilgrimage priests from the four Dhams have been made by the Mahapanchayat for coordination with the department. Two pilgrimage priests have been nominated from each Dham. Pt. Purshottam Uniyal and Pt. Anirudh Uniyal from Yamunotri Dham, Pt. Ranjikant Semwal and Pt. Nikhilesh Semwal from Gangotri Dham, Pt. Santosh Trivedi from Kedarnath Dham, and Pt. Pankaj Shukla, Pt. Brijesh Sati, and Pt. Praveen Dhyani from Badrinath Dham.

The pilgrimage priests will update the Tourism Department on the actual situation of travel management at the places and provide suggestions for additional facilities for the devotees. This initiative aims to make the journey easier by acting promptly on suggestions from the priests. Joint Director Tourism has been directed to work as coordinator. Secretary (Tourism) Sachin Kurve says that this coordination will facilitate quick resolution of problems during the journey and help in preparing better plans for the future.
