Four Arrested for Stealing Iron from Surat Metro Project
Accused Caught Red-Handed with Stolen Goods Worth Rs 7.50 Lakh
Surat : Udhna police has arrested four accused who were stealing iron from the ongoing metro train project in Saroli area of Surat. The accused used to steal iron rods and angles from the project site and sell them in trucks.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team caught the accused red-handed with stolen goods worth over Rs 7.50 lakh, including iron rods, angles, and a truck. The arrested individuals have been identified as Vijaykumarsingh Rajput, Gokul Ramnarayan Kuswah, Manojkumar Verma, and Mustaq Buddha Khan.
According to the police, the accused would steal the iron from the metro project site during the night and then transport it to scrap shops in the Gandhikutir area of Udhna for sale.
The theft of iron from the metro project had caused significant delays and disruptions to the construction work. With the arrest of the accused, the police hope to curb such incidents and ensure the smooth progress of the project.
The police are also investigating whether any more people are involved in the theft racket.
