Surat: Bank of Baroda Launches New Digital Payment Features on bob ePay
Surat. Bank of Baroda has announced three new advanced features on its universal UPI app 'bob ePay' to make digital payments more secure, faster, and convenient.
These include mobile OS-native biometric authentication, UIDAI-based face authentication, and Internet of Things (IoT) based UPI payments. According to the announcement made in Mumbai, bob ePay is a universal UPI app available to customers of all banks. The bank states that the aim of these new features is to provide customers with a more seamless and secure digital banking experience.
Sanjay Mudaliar, Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, mentioned that in today's era, customers expect hassle-free, fast, and secure digital payments. He explained that through new technologies, the bank is enhancing security while also improving user experience. Under the new feature, customers will now be able to authorize UPI transactions up to ₹5,000 using the registered fingerprint or face ID on their mobile phones.
This will reduce the need to repeatedly enter the UPI PIN, making the payment process faster and simpler. This feature enables pin-less payments while also strengthening the level of security, as only the registered user of the device will be able to approve transactions through biometric authentication. Customers can choose to use either the UPI PIN or biometric authentication.
This feature will be available for person-to-person (P2P), person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions, and services like balance inquiry. The bank has also introduced a UIDAI-based face authentication feature for setting or resetting the UPI PIN. Through this, customers can now securely set or reset their UPI PIN via facial recognition and bank OTP without relying on debit cards or traditional Aadhaar verification processes.
With the IoT-based payment feature, customers will now be able to link supported smart devices and connected vehicles to bob ePay for direct UPI payments. According to the bank, this feature is a significant step towards advancing digital payments beyond smartphones. This system is based on the 'Delegated Payments Framework,' where the primary user can allow a secondary user or device to make payments within a specified limit.
The bank clarified that each IoT device will be connected to only one primary user at a time, ensuring transaction accountability and security. Bank of Baroda states that through these new features, bob ePay will strengthen both innovation and customer security in the field of digital payments.
