Surat Health Department Launches Extensive Milk Product Sampling Ahead of Festivals
In an extensive drive to ensure food safety during the upcoming festivals, the health department of Surat city has initiated a systematic process to sample milk products including sweets and mawa from various vendors across the city's 10 zones.
As the sale of sweets and mawa usually escalates considerably during the festive seasons, the Health Department has begun to actively target potential adulteration, starting the sampling process in all the 10 zones.
Today's operation saw different teams being formed by the health department to collect samples, keeping in mind the high consumption of sweets during the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Mawa, a key ingredient in sweets, is under particular scrutiny.
Food Safety Officer Kamakshi Sailor emphasized that sampling commenced in areas including Bhagal, Udhna, Pandesara, Ringrod, Athwa, Adajan, and Piplod. With Rakshabandhan on the horizon, the initiative aims to prevent the sale of inedible sweets.
The samples gathered during this operation will be sent to the Public Health Laboratory for comprehensive analysis. If any adulteration is detected, legal action will be taken against the shop owners involved, ensuring that the health and well-being of consumers are prioritized during the festive celebrations.
