Surat : Burst Water Tank Triggers Road Accident, Five Injured

In an unfortunate turn of events in Surat, five individuals sustained injuries in a vehicular accident triggered by the bursting of an old water tank in a government quarter complex near the old sub-jail on Ring Road. The water tank rupture caused the road to become muddy and treacherous, leading to multiple vehicles skidding and capsizing.

The accident took place close to the ongoing excavation site for a new metro line, further complicating the situation as more mud was present on the roadway.

Among the victims were 24-year-old Lalit Babulal Gehlot, a Rajasthan native currently residing in Kailash Nagar of Parvat Patiya Model Town, and his friend Ashok Hiralal Shirve, a 24-year-old cloth merchant living in Salasar Residency, Godadara. The pair were on their way to a mall on Dumas Road when their bike skidded on the muddy road, resulting in injuries that warranted their admission to New Civil Hospital.

A close contact of the injured duo disclosed that the mishap was precipitated by the bursting of a large, dilapidated water tank in the nearby government quarters complex. Mud and stones on the road, amplified by the water from the tank, caused their bike to lose control. They were also hit by debris from the shattered tank.

The hazardous conditions of Ring Road in the afternoon led to additional accidents, with several other bike riders and a rickshaw toppling over. Among the victims were Mayur Walani (35, Mota Varachha resident), Swaroop Lukhi (27, Kapodra resident), and Magan Parmar (35, Pal resident), all of whom suffered minor injuries. They were immediately transferred to a nearby civil hospital for medical attention.
