In a tragic incident in Karelibagh, Vadodara, a distressed mother, unable to bear her financial burdens, fatally poisoned and then strangled her two daughters before attempting to take her own life. Responding swiftly, neighbors managed to save the mother from completing her suicide attempt and rushed her to SSG Hospital where she is currently under critical observation.
The mother, Daksha Chauhan, had been residing in a rental property in Akshata Society, Karelibagh for about two weeks. Originally from Morbi, Daksha was a divorcee and mother of two daughters. After her divorce, she lived with her father in Tulsi Wadi, Vadodara until his death the previous year. Subsequent disagreements with her brother Rahul led to her relocation to the Akshata Society with her daughters.
Upon discovering the disturbing scene, a neighbor living upstairs immediately raised an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby residents. Daksha was found in the process of hanging herself but was rescued in time and immediately transported to SSG Hospital. The medical team there continues to monitor her condition closely.
Before their untimely deaths, the elder daughter, Honey, had confided in a friend about the peculiar taste of their food. Despite her suspicions, her friend assured her that no mother would harm her own children. Honey, a 19-year-old TY B.Com student, harbored dreams of becoming an air hostess. She had communicated with her friend Rakesh about her plans.
During the investigation, the police discovered a four-page suicide note detailing the mother's financial difficulties. According to PI Chetan Jadav of Karelibagh, the note revealed an inability to pay the daughter's fee of Rs 22,000 and house rent. Further details from the suicide note are under scrutiny.
DCP Panna Momaya of Zone 4, after assessing the crime scene, confirmed to the press that all angles are being examined with the assistance of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). He affirmed that a murder case against the mother will be registered.
