Surat: Five-day Shri Ram Katha Mahotsav begins with grand procession
The five-day Shri Ram Katha Mahotsav commenced at the Capital Green Society Banquet Hall in Vesu on Saturday with a grand procession and Kalash Poojan. On the first day of the Katha, revered Sant Alakaji explained the significance of Shri Ram Katha to the devotees, highlighting its spiritual and practical importance.
Before the Katha began, a formal Kalash Poojan was conducted in the presence of Sant Alakaji. The procession that followed passed through various routes near Jhin Mata Temple, Devsar Mata premises, and Mehndipur Balaji Temple, reaching the Katha venue. A large number of devotees participated in the procession, filling the atmosphere with devotional songs and chants.
On the first day of the Katha, Sant Alakaji stated that listening to Shri Ram Katha is a means of welfare for living beings. He emphasized that the Katha is not just for listening but for internalizing its ideals in life. He mentioned that Shri Ram Katha paves the way for crossing the ocean of existence and conveys the message of truth, morality, and righteousness in life.
While describing the glory of the Guru, he stated that a Guru is not a specific individual but a divine element that brings joy, auspiciousness, and welfare into life. He also highlighted the importance of being in the company of saints, referring to them as a moving Prayagraj. The main organizers of the Shri Ram Katha Mahotsav include Kaushalya Devi Gilda, Vasudev Gilda, Sarveshwar Gilda, Geeta Devi Agarwal, Ashish Agarwal, Sachin Agarwal, and Nitin Agarwal.
A significant number of devotees attended on the first day to benefit from the Katha. According to the organizers, the Shri Ram Katha Mahotsav will be held daily from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
