Surat: Pandesara GIDC Sets an Example in Environmental Protection, Plants 1,650 Trees on World Environment Day, Reuses 80 MLD Treated Water

Surat, June 5, 2026: On the global occasion of World Environment Day, a unique blend of environmental awareness and green development was witnessed in the prominent industrial area of Pandesara GIDC in Surat. Under a grand event organized by the Pandesara Industrial Association (PIA), a record 1,650 trees were planted across the industrial area.

Regional Officer of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Mr. Arun Patel, was notably present at this special campaign and environmental awareness program. Today, Pandesara GIDC has emerged as a role model for environmental protection and sustainable industrial development. With the shared cooperation of the association, CETP, and member industries, several remarkable green projects have been successfully developed in the area: Urban forests have been created to provide clean air to the industrial area, including dense plantation areas like Amrit Van, Samarpan Van, Harit Van, and Kamal Bagh.

Educational and industrial green zones include the green campus of Udyog Bharati Vidyalaya, CETP green zone, and utility green corridor. Initiatives for a circular economy have led to the creation of special water harvesting ponds for water conservation. Additionally, beautiful monuments have been created using recycled plastic to spread environmental awareness.

In terms of water conservation, Pandesara GIDC has set a significant record by reusing 80 MLD of treated wastewater, establishing a benchmark for water savings and environmental balance. Currently, the total water requirement of this industrial area is 105 MLD (million liters per day), of which a record 80 MLD of tertiary treated water is being reused in industries. This step is considered revolutionary in the direction of 'circular economy' and 'water conservation' in the country.

Along with the treatment of wastewater, the CETP management is also fulfilling social responsibilities such as continuous green belt development, cleanliness campaigns, and regular fogging services, keeping public health in mind. On this dignified occasion, a large number of industrialists and representatives from the association, including Kamalvijay Tulsyan, Jitendra Vakaria, Shyam Bhai Agarwal, J.P. Agarwal, Vineet Jain, Bhushan Jain, and Mr. Tejas Kapadia, associated with the textile and other sectors, were present.

All entrepreneurs present at the event appreciated the efforts of Pandesara GIDC and reiterated their collective commitment to creating a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable industrial environment for future generations. The association officials clarified that for them, Environment Day is not just a one-day celebration, but a year-round commitment to achieving green growth and sustainable industrial development.
