On June 1, 2026, CISF personnel at Surat Airport demonstrated exceptional vigilance, integrity, and duty by safely returning a passenger's belongings worth lakhs. A handbag was found abandoned outside the arrival gate, and CISF officers promptly took possession of it and initiated procedures to identify the rightful owner.
During the investigation, the owner was identified as Shailesh Premprakash Gupta, who had traveled from Bengaluru on flight IX-2052 and had left the bag in haste. After verifying necessary documents and identity, the bag was returned to him, containing jewelry valued at approximately ₹53.34 lakhs and ₹30,000 in cash. The passenger expressed relief and happiness upon receiving his valuable belongings safely.
He openly praised the CISF personnel for their swift action, professional competence, and integrity, expressing his gratitude through a video message. He stated that due to the soldiers' sense of responsibility and service, his precious items were safely returned.
