Mayur Parmar attains 823rd National Rank and 9th State Rank, Credits Success to Father's Inspiration
Surat: The recently declared Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam 2022 results brought pride and joy to Mayur Parmar, a Surat native, who secured the 823rd rank nationally and the 9th rank in Gujarat. Mayur is the son of a head constable, Rameshbhai, who is employed as a PCR van driver.
In this competitive examination, 16 candidates from Gujarat achieved positions within the top 1000 ranks. Notably, Mayur achieved this commendable feat by specializing in Gujarati literature.
Mayur, who has been meticulously preparing for the UPSC exam for the past four years, dedicated his success to his father. Unsatisfied with his current rank, Mayur expressed a keen ambition to improve his rank in the next attempt.
Mayur, a Civil Engineering graduate, prepared for the exam while working on a contract basis. His preferred study hours were during the night, as he found it to be a time of fewer distractions. In his initial preparation stage, Mayur had to struggle with the lack of proper guidance. However, he overcame this challenge by practising previous MCQ papers and seeking advice from seniors.
Rameshbhai, Mayur's father, expressed his joy at his son's accomplishment. "I am a driver and when I meet an officer, I have to salute him. I saluted my son today. What can be a greater joy for a father than this?" Rameshbhai said. He further added that if he finds his son on duty somewhere, he would proudly salute him in uniform.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Civil Services 2022 interviews in three phases. The last phase concluded on May 18, 2023.
