PLI Scheme Discussed with Textile Entrepreneurs in Surat Meeting
Surat: The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, in collaboration with the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Man-Made Textile Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), organized a meeting with textile entrepreneurs at Samhati in Sarsana. The session focused on providing detailed information about the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and inviting suggestions from industry stakeholders.
As per report, Bhaskar Kalra, Joint Secretary from the Ministry who arrived from New Delhi, explained the provisions of the PLI scheme to the participants. He informed that the scheme is currently applicable for enterprises investing between Rs 100 crore and Rs 300 crore, as well as for those investing above Rs 300 crore. Covering 116 HSN codes, the scheme has its application deadline set for September 30, 2025. He urged entrepreneurs to submit their applications on time to avail the benefits.
During the interaction, textile entrepreneurs suggested that the scheme should also extend benefits to businesses investing up to Rs 50 crore, in order to make it more inclusive. They also called for the addition of new HSN codes and recommended that import-substitute products in the textile sector be incorporated into the scheme to strengthen domestic manufacturing.
The meeting was attended by prominent industry representatives, including Chamber Minister Bijal Jariwala, former MATEXIL chairman Dhiraj Shah, FIASWI president and former Chamber president Bharat Gandhi, Pandesara CETP chairman Ravindra Arya, and former Chamber president and Textile Task Force chairman Ashish Gujarati, along with several other textile entrepreneurs from the region.
