Shri Anil Shankar Sharan takes charge as the new Head of Project at NTPC Kawas

Shri Anil Shankar Sharan, Chief General Manager (CGM) has assumed charge as Head of Project (HOP) at NTPC Kawas, effective 17th July 2025.
In his career spanning over 35 years at NTPC, Shri Sharan has held several key positions, demonstrating strong leadership across various roles. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from BIT Sindri, he began his journey with NTPC in 1989 as a Trainee Executive. Over the years, he has contributed significantly in critical areas such as Maintenance Planning (MTP), Fuel Handling, Operations, Ash Handling, Fuel Management, and Operation & Maintenance (O&M). 

In his distinguished career, he has played key and impactful roles at NTPC’s Korba, Vindhyachal (India’s largest thermal power station), and Sipat projects. 

On the occasion of taking charge, all senior officials and employees congratulated Shri Sharan on assuming the role of Head of Project at Kawas Gas Power Project. They expressed confidence that with his vast experience and strategic vision, NTPC Kawas will scale new heights of operational excellence and sustainable growth in the times to come. 

About NTPC Kawas 

NTPC Kawas, located in the Hazira region of Surat district, is a Combined Cycle Gas Power Plant with an installed capacity of 656.2 MW (2 CC modules). In addition to its core operations, NTPC Kawas has taken significant strides in the field of renewable energy, which includes a 56 MW Solar PV project (comprising 31 MW ground-mounted and 25 MW floating solar). Notably, with a capacity of 25 MW, NTPC Kawas proudly holds the distinction of operating Gujarat’s largest floating solar power plant.
Furthermore, in January 2023, NTPC Kawas successfully commissioned India’s first Green Hydrogen Blending Project, which is currently supplying cooking gas to township households by blending 8% green hydrogen with natural gas.
