Speaking to Loktej, market chairman and Anand Enterprise proprietor Mohan Singh Rajpurohit, who is also a director of FOSTA, shared insights into the ongoing textile trade. He explained that his business deals in shirting and sarees, with a strong wholesale network in states like Maharashtra and Rajasthan. He emphasized that although the growing garment industry has posed certain challenges to traditional textile trade, the business remains steady. He also highlighted that their operations are active both offline and on digital platforms.
Secretary Tejkaran Prajapati, who owns Laddu Gopal Textile, has been in the market for the past decade. He deals in dress materials such as suits, salwars, kurtis, and blouse fabrics, keeping a wide range of materials aligned with customer preferences and market trends.
Mooniram Bhamu, proprietor of Architex and serving as the market treasurer, stated that he has been working in the market for the past 20 years. He deals in cut pieces, second-hand sarees, and outcut sarees, which continue to receive positive customer response.
The market has enhanced its infrastructure with the installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of security guards to ensure the safety of traders and customers. A major traffic issue near the market entrance has also been resolved recently, making access easier and more convenient for business.
Rajpurohit further noted that Shiv Darshan Textile Market enjoys popularity not only across Indian states but also among international traders who visit for business purposes. This widespread appeal reinforces its importance within Surat’s textile industry.
