13-Year-Old Student’s Abduction Case Takes Shocking Turn as Arrested Teacher Undergoes Abortion; DNA Test Ordered
Surat – In a sensational development that has gripped the city, a 23-year-old unmarried teacher arrested for allegedly abducting a 13-year-old student has undergone an abortion at SMIMER Hospital following a court order. The case took a complicated turn when it was discovered that the teacher was around 20 weeks pregnant at the time of her arrest.
After the teacher’s pregnancy was confirmed in jail, her legal counsel submitted a petition seeking permission for abortion. Taking into account medical advice and prioritizing the health of both the woman and the unborn child, the court approved the request. The abortion was carried out on May 15 at SMIMER Hospital under medical supervision.
As per media report, the police are now investigating whether the aborted fetus is a result of an alleged physical relationship with the minor boy. DNA samples of the fetus have been preserved and will be matched with the boy’s DNA. The report, expected within two months, is seen as critical to determining the nature of the alleged relationship and the seriousness of the charges.
The teacher was arrested five days after the abduction from the Puna area and was located near the Rajasthan border. During interrogation, she claimed that the boy had been attending her tuition classes alone for the past year and they had spent time together in private. However, police are verifying the authenticity of these statements and are relying on scientific evidence to draw conclusions.
Sources at the hospital said that due to the pregnancy being in the 20–22 week range, labor was medically induced and completed in about 15 to 20 minutes using pain management. The teacher is currently in stable condition and is expected to be discharged within two days. The fetus has been preserved in chemicals to maintain its integrity for DNA comparison.
This case has sparked widespread discussion in Surat, raising serious questions about child protection, teacher-student boundaries, and the mental well-being of both individuals involved. The final outcome hinges on the DNA report, which is expected to provide critical clarity in what has become one of the city's most disturbing and high-profile cases in recent times.
