NTPC Kawas Celebrates 34th Raising Day of Kawas

Surat, 22 March 2025: NTPC Kawas celebrated its 34th Raising Day (Kawas Diwas) with great enthusiasm on 22 March 2025. The event commenced with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Project Head, Shri Suresh John David, who extended a warm welcome to all officials, employees, their families, union representatives and CISF personnel. He proudly reminisced about the remarkable journey of Kawas Gas Power Station. 

In his address, the Project Head highlighted that NTPC Kawas has made significant contributions not only in power generation but also in community development. He stated that the project commenced power generation in 1992 and has since achieved numerous milestones in energy production and technological excellence.

He further mentioned a recent accomplishment on 12 March when NTPC Kawas played a crucial role during a blackout in South Gujarat by stabilizing the grid through power supply. In recognition of this prompt and effective action, GETCO (Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited) awarded an appreciation letter to NTPC Kawas.

Reaffirming NTPC Kawas’s commitment to social welfare and community development, the Project Head shared that a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) lab was recently established at Pinjrat Government Primary School. This modern facility will benefit approximately 400 students from 13 schools in the cluster, providing advanced education in science and technology. 

Under the CSR initiative 'Ramzat 2.0', students from Suvali Primary School secured the third position at the Kala Mahakumbh (South Gujarat level), bringing pride to the institution. Additionally, NTPC Kawas installed approximately 500 LED lights in Mora Gram Panchayat and initiated waste management and pond rejuvenation projects as part of its commitment to community development.

The Project Head expressed his gratitude to all employees and associated institutions for their continuous support in the growth of NTPC Kawas. He emphasized that the goal of NTPC Kawas is not only to achieve excellence in power generation but also to fulfill its social and environmental responsibilities.

The celebration of Kawas Diwas concluded with a grand cultural evening where employees and their families participated with great enthusiasm. The vibrant folk dances and artistic performances showcased the spirit of unity and collective efforts, making the event truly memorable.
