Women's Day Group Ride Concludes Enthusiastically in Surat
Surat, March 8 – The Women's Day Group Ride in Surat concluded with great enthusiasm, marking yet another successful annual event organized by Gujarat High Court advocate Preetiben Joshi. This special cycling event, dedicated to celebrating women's empowerment, was conducted in collaboration with Surat's Cycle Mayor Anil Mardia and the Surat Cyclists Group.
A total of 150 men and women participated in the ride, displaying remarkable energy and enthusiasm. The event received logistical and medical support from Omega JMX Cancer Hospital, Athwagate. The designated route covered a 16-kilometer stretch from Omega JMX Cancer Hospital to Y Junction and back. Each participant was given a personalized T-shirt before the ride, and upon completion, they were awarded a special Women’s Day medal along with refreshments.
Muskan Gupta, Surat’s national cycling championship gold medalist, was honored with a medal and a commemorative plaque. She emphasized the numerous benefits of cycling and its importance in daily life. Surat Cycle Mayor Anil Mardia highlighted the ‘Cycle to Work’ initiative, encouraging people to adopt cycling as a sustainable mode of transport while also stressing the need for women's empowerment, recognizing their dedication, sacrifices, and achievements.
Advocate Preetiben Joshi took the opportunity to address critical social issues, urging women to stand as witnesses and provide evidence against crimes such as harassment, assault, and rape. She emphasized that strict action and strong testimony could ensure justice and severe punishment for offenders.
The Women's Day Group Ride successfully promoted cycling as a safe and empowering activity while also spreading awareness about safety, empowerment, and justice for women in society.
