Vadodara : Anand Municipal Corporation Takes Strict Action for Tax Collection, Seals 18 Shops
Anand Municipal Corporation, after its establishment, has appointed Milind Bapna as its first commissioner. Under his leadership, a dedicated team has been formed within the municipal tax department to focus on recovering outstanding dues from the previous year and ensuring efficient tax collection for the current financial year. The corporation is taking multiple steps to increase revenue, including launching special campaigns to recover rent from municipal shops and maximize property and business tax collections.
As part of this initiative, on Wednesday, the corporation sealed 18 commercial establishments, including two shops and three flats in Ansh Eklav Complex on Jitodia Road, for failing to clear outstanding dues. Notices have been issued to 7,708 defaulters, with 3,600 from Anand, 3,900 from Vidyanagar, and 308 from Karamsad. The process of issuing additional notices is ongoing.
Between January 1 and March 3, 2025, the total rental income collected from municipal shops amounted to ₹17.11 lakh. In terms of property tax revenue, Anand collected over ₹3.63 crore, Vidyanagar ₹30.22 lakh, Karamsad ₹43.33 lakh, Lambhvel ₹1.48 lakh, Gamdi ₹54,861, Mogri ₹1.47 lakh, and Jitodia ₹1.35 lakh, amounting to a total of ₹4.41 crore. Additionally, the business tax collection from shops and commercial establishments reached ₹1.85 crore.
Overall, under the guidance of the municipal commissioner, the tax department has successfully recovered over ₹6.43 crore in the past two months. Residents of Anand, Vidyanagar, Karamsad, Lambhvel, Gamdi, Mogri, and Jitodia can pay their property taxes at the Anand Municipal Corporation office from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, except on Dhulendi, until March 31. Defaulters have been urged to clear their dues at the earliest to avoid further action.
