Vadodara: The campus placement season at the Faculty of Technology, MS University, has begun on a promising note, with over 100 companies participating so far. Out of the 500 registered Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students, 300 have already secured job offers through campus interviews.
The highest salary package offered this season is INR 18 lakh per annum, awarded to Computer Science students. In contrast, Civil Engineering and students from the Water Resources and Engineering & Management Institute received the lowest package of INR 2.8 lakh per annum. The average package for the faculty stands at INR 5.3 lakh.
According to Professor JN Shah, Director of the Faculty's Placement Cell, the interview process will continue through March, April, and May, with 40 to 50 more companies expected to visit. The faculty aims to place approximately 75% of its BE students through campus placements this year, slightly improving from last year's 70% placement rate.
Mechanical Engineering students have secured the highest number of placements, with 86 out of 97 students (89%) landing jobs. Computer Science follows closely, with 55 out of 65 students (84%) receiving offers. However, the Water Resources and Engineering & Management Institute saw the lowest success rate, with only 2 out of 18 students (11%) securing placements.
In a first for the Faculty of Technology, a Computer Science student has been selected for an internship at Google. Following the verification of the student's application, Google offered an internship with a monthly stipend of INR 1.25 lakh. Upon successful completion of the internship, the company may extend a job offer along with a competitive salary package.
The placement cell remains optimistic as more companies prepare to engage with the university's talent pool, enhancing career prospects for aspiring engineers.
