Surat : Train Accident Averted Due to Railway Trackman's Alertness
Surat – A major train accident was averted in Gujarat near Kim station in Surat, thanks to the vigilance of a railway trackman. A serious plot to derail a train was uncovered when it was discovered that unknown individuals had tampered with the railway tracks by removing fishplates and loosening 71 bolts connecting the rails. The incident caused panic within the railway department.
The sabotage occurred on the up-line near Kim station, which is used by trains heading toward northern states like Uttar Pradesh. A local informed the station superintendent after noticing that the fishplates had been deliberately removed and placed on the track. Upon receiving this alert, Subhash Kumar, a railway trackman, was immediately informed and dispatched to inspect the situation. He confirmed that the rail tampering was an attempt to derail an approaching train.
Thanks to Subhash Kumar's swift action, all relevant railway officials were alerted, and train movements were temporarily halted. Train number 12910, which was approaching at the time, was stopped by showing a red flag. The tracks were quickly repaired, and the train was stopped at KSB mainline at 5:27 AM.
Repairs were successfully carried out, and train operations resumed safely shortly after.
