Surat Municipal Corporation Announces Free Bus Travel for Women on Rakshabandhan

Surat  — On the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan, the Surat Municipal Corporation has gifted the city's women a special treat. On August 19, all women and children below 15 years of age accompanying them can travel free of charge on city buses and BRTS services.

This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of women, making it easier for them to visit their brothers and celebrate the festival of Rakshabandhan. Somnath Marathe, Chairman of the Public Transport Committee of the Municipal Corporation, stated that this decision would also help streamline the city's traffic system.

The Surat Municipal Corporation has been consistently working to improve public transport services for city residents, with ongoing expansions of BRTS and city bus routes. Currently, Surat boasts 13 BRTS routes and 45 city bus routes, serving over 2 lakh passengers daily.

The Corporation has urged all women to take full advantage of this free travel facility and use public transport in large numbers, contributing to reduced traffic congestion and a safer environment.
