Schools in Surat City and District Closed Due to Heavy Rains on July 24

Due to heavy rains over the last three days, Surat city and district schools will observe a holiday on Wednesday, July 24. This decision, taken by District Collector Dr. Saurabh Parghi and District Education Officer Bhagirath Singh, aims to ensure the safety of students amid severe weather conditions.

Continuous heavy rainfall has resulted in extensive waterlogging across the city, affecting numerous schools. Many areas are submerged, causing significant difficulties for students commuting to and from school.

In light of these challenges, District Education Officer Bhagirath Singh has declared a holiday for all schools in the city and district. A letter issued to the schools highlights the ongoing heavy rain in Saurashtra and South Gujarat, as forecasted by the Meteorological Department, necessitating this precautionary measure.

The DEO has instructed all schools to comply strictly with this directive, emphasizing the importance of student safety. The order mandates that all schools must adhere to the holiday declaration to prevent any undue risks to students.
