Tragic Incident in Pali Village, Sachin; Rescue Operation Lasts Over 15 Hours

Surat Building Collapse Claims 7 Lives

Surat : A five-storey building, excluding the ground floor, collapsed in Pali village of Sachin, Surat, on Saturday, leading to the tragic deaths of seven individuals and injuring fifteen others. The injured have been hospitalized.

The building, constructed seven years ago, was in a dilapidated state with numerous cracks. According to locals, the collapse was triggered by heavy rainfall.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, fire brigade and police teams swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating a rescue operation that extended for more than 15 hours. All the trapped individuals were eventually evacuated from the debris.

The deceased have been identified as Hiramdi Bambholi Kewat (40), Abhishek (35), Brijesh Hiralal God (50), Shivpujan Shokhilal Kewat (26), Anmol alias (Sahil) Shaligram Chamar (17), Parvez Shokhilal Kewat (21), and Lalji Bambholi Kewat (40).

Sachin GIDC police have registered a case of culpable homicide and negligence against the building owner Raj Rasik Kakadiya, his mother Ramilaben Kakadiya, and building caretaker Ashwin Vekariya. Vekariya has been arrested, while Raj Kakadiya is currently in the US, and the search for Ramilaben Kakadiya continues.
