SGCCI Delegation Visits Ratnapura Gem Exhibition 2024

A delegation from the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) recently attended the 'Ratnapura International Gem Exhibition - 2024' in Sri Lanka. Organized by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, the exhibition showcased gems, jewellery, and stones from more than 70 international brands, including exhibitors from Sri Lanka and seven other countries.

The event was inaugurated by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, who emphasized the importance of enhancing trade relations between the gem and jewellery sectors of Sri Lanka and Gujarat. He highlighted the 3000-year-old trade history between India and Sri Lanka, encouraging prioritized trade with Gujarat.

SGCCI Global Connect CEO Paresh Bhatt urged the Sri Lankan Prime Minister to foster business ties with Surat entrepreneurs, aiming to boost the business opportunities for Sri Lankan traders. In response, Sri Lankan Industry Minister Ramesh Pathirana assured a visit to Surat to hold discussions with SGCCI representatives on furthering trade relations.

The exhibition is expected to significantly enhance trade in gems, jewellery, and other sectors between Surat and Sri Lanka, fostering economic growth and collaboration.
