Surat: Wing of Air India flight ready for take-off on runway collides with ladder

Ahmedabad, June 29 (HS): The Air India flight that reached Surat from New Delhi on Friday night collided with the ladder being removed while flying from Surat to Bengaluru. This caused severe damage to the wing of the plane. Due to this, the flight going to Bengaluru was cancelled. Passengers were given the option of the next day's flight or a refund.

According to the information, a manual ladder is used at Surat airport to deboard and disembark passengers in 72- to 78-seater CRJ and ATR-level aircraft. This ladder is connected to the aircraft during the arrival and departure. Air India's plane reached Surat from Delhi on Friday night, was parked on the apron, and was preparing to go to Bengaluru. During this time, the ladder was being removed, and it collided with the wing of the aircraft. This has caused damage to the wing.

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was informed about the incident, after which an investigation was ordered. The technical team of the airport authority is currently engaged in repairing the wing of the aircraft. The flight from Surat to Bengaluru was cancelled due to the incident. Due to this, the passengers ready to travel had to face trouble. The passengers were given the option of sending them on another flight to Bengaluru on the next day, i.e., Saturday, or getting a refund.
