IJEX Emerges as Gateway to Global Jewellery Markets; GJEPC Announces Special Training Program for Surat Entrepreneurs

Surat — The India Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX), based in Dubai and established by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is rapidly gaining recognition as a strategic platform for expanding India’s gem and jewellery industry into international markets. Since its inception in 2023 by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, IJEX has functioned as a year-round B2B hub, enabling Indian manufacturers—especially MSMEs—to showcase their products and secure export orders from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia.

Dubai’s status as a global trading hub for gold and jewellery, supported by investor-friendly tax policies, streamlined trade practices, and modern infrastructure, has made it an ideal location for Indian entrepreneurs to establish a presence. Already, 50 exporters have joined IJEX, with 12 launching their independent firms in Dubai. So far, more than 885 B2B buyers from 16 countries have visited the center. IJEX is increasingly proving to be a promising launchpad for women entrepreneurs and next-generation business leaders seeking global reach.

To maximize the potential of IJEX and better prepare entrepreneurs for international engagement, GJEPC has developed a dedicated one-week “Market Introduction Program.” The initiative aims to equip participating jewellers with practical insights into consumer behavior, taxation, retail structures, and distribution systems across Dubai and the GCC region.

The program will guide attendees on strategies for global export readiness, brand positioning, pricing, product design customization for local tastes, and navigating entry into key Gulf retail markets through field visits to major showrooms in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. Additionally, workshops and regulatory training sessions will offer participants expert-led discussions on emerging trends, localization strategies, and market entry frameworks.

Described as an “incubator platform,” IJEX supports entrepreneurs at every stage, from production and marketing to customer engagement, banking, and business development. In an effort to raise awareness about these opportunities and encourage wider participation, GJEPC’s Surat regional office recently hosted a special webinar that drew over 100 members from across Gujarat.

The session opened with a keynote address by Jayantibhai Savaliya, Regional Chairman of GJEPC (Gujarat), who emphasized the strategic value of IJEX for MSME exporters. This was followed by a detailed presentation from Ashish S., Head of IJEX Dubai, who outlined the program’s structure, schedule, and key benefits.

During the webinar, two upcoming program batches were announced—scheduled to begin on July 7 and August 11, 2025. Remarkably, 25 entrepreneurs registered on the spot for the first batch, underscoring the rising interest and confidence in IJEX within the industry.
