Surat Airport Sets New Passenger Record in May 2024

Over 1.47 Lakh Passengers and 39 Tonnes of Cargo Handled

Surat International Airport achieved a milestone in May 2024, handling over 1.47 lakh passengers, the highest monthly total so far this year. This included 1,34,091 passengers on domestic flights and 13,907 on international flights. Notably, the airport also launched its international cargo facility, dispatching 39 tonnes of cargo in its first month.

Despite the increase in passenger traffic, the number of flights saw a slight decline, with 1,348 domestic and 102 international flights operating in May.

Airport officials are optimistic about the new cargo facility, expecting its usage to grow as more people become aware of it. This development is particularly beneficial for Surat's traders and industries, enabling easier international shipment of goods.
