In the wake of the Rajkot accident, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has initiated decisive measures to ensure the safety and compliance of buildings within its jurisdiction. Since May 28, several premises have been sealed due to the absence of fire No Objection Certificates (NOC) and other mandatory certifications.
To address the concerns and facilitate the reopening of these sealed premises, VMC has established a special cell. This cell is spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner Hasmukh Prajapati, Town Planning Officer Jitesh Trivedi, and an officer from the Fire Brigade Division. A meeting was convened with representatives of the affected institutions to provide detailed guidance on the necessary steps for unsealing their premises.
In response to numerous appeals from citizens and organizations, VMC's special cell aims to expedite the process of reopening sealed units. Comprising 25 officers and employees, this dedicated team will operate under a single window system to streamline procedures. During the recent meeting held on Friday, representatives from various sealed buildings and organizations received comprehensive guidance from the Town Planning and City Departments.
Citizens and organizations are encouraged to apply to the municipality with the required documents and supporting evidence to initiate the unsealing process. VMC will meticulously review the submissions and decide on a case-by-case basis. The municipality assures prompt action for premises meeting the necessary criteria.
This proactive measure by VMC underscores its commitment to ensuring public safety while providing clarity and assistance to affected citizens. The formation of the special cell and the single window system are expected to significantly ease the process, allowing compliant buildings to resume operations promptly.
