New Delhi, June 05 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched 'One Tree in the Name of Mother' campaign on World Environment Day to make people aware about the environment. He started it by planting a sapling in Buddha Jayanti Park in the national capital Delhi.
Modi reached Buddha Jayanti Park at around 10:45 am and started this campaign by planting a sapling. Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena were also present with him.
Prime Minister Modi's effort is that people should join this campaign and cooperate in dealing with global warming. It is noteworthy that World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 05. It started in 1972. This year the motto of this day is "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Tolerance".
