Surat's 14 Weavers, Including Paresh Dhanani, Defrauded of Rs 1.40 Cr

The textile market in Surat is facing a growing challenge of irregular recovery of dues, causing distress among traders. Despite efforts by representative organizations to aid members in recovering dues and combat this issue, incidents of financial losses persist.

Recently, 40-year-old Paresh Dhanani, a resident of Surat and owner of Ganesh Textiles, fell victim to fraud. He entered into a business deal with Sameer Sachdeva, who operates a clothing business in Pandesara GIDC and has an office in Colaba, Mumbai under the banner of Swara Global with brothers Gautam and Ashish.

Paresh sold gray cloth worth approximately Rs 1.04 crore to Sameer, who paid Rs 71 lakh initially but delayed the remaining payment of Rs 33 lakh. Further investigation revealed that Sameer had similar outstanding dues with 13 other shops in Surat, totaling Rs 1.07 crore.

In response, Paresh filed a complaint with the local crime branch, prompting an investigation by the Economics Offence Cell team. PSI YG Girnar is overseeing the case, highlighting the severity of the issue in Surat's textile market.
