Surat: The recovery of narcotics continues in various areas of Surat, with the recent seizure of MD drugs worth Rs 20 lakh. The Special Operations Group (SOG) had earlier recovered 1 kilogram of high-quality MD drugs from the Rampura area of the city. On Thursday, 209 grams of MD drugs were recovered from two youths in Udhna Darwaja and Lalgate areas, leading to the arrest of one of them.
According to information received, the Crime Branch team was on patrol when they noticed a youth in Rustampura near Udhna Darwaja attempting to flee upon seeing the police. After a chase, the police apprehended the youth, identified as Tokir alias Tosif Hanif Shaikh, aged 22, and recovered 197 grams of drugs from him.
In a separate incident, the Lalgate police raided the house of a youth in Tatwada Madina Masjid locality and seized 12 grams of drugs.
The Surat police have been conducting a campaign against drug dealers in recent days, resulting in a record number of cases being registered.
