Special Voting Arrangements for Surat's Centenarian Voters

Surat's 252 centenarian voters and 15,709 voters above 85 years old are offered special voting arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat. Options include home voting through ballot paper and transportation to polling stations.

As Gujarat prepares for Lok Sabha elections on May 7, Surat gears up with special arrangements for its elderly voters. While Surat's Lok Sabha seat sees no voting due to a single candidate being elected unopposed, voters in the district's 9 assembly constituencies, falling under Navsari and Bardoli Lok Sabha seats, will cast their votes.

With a total of 29.40 lakh voters in these constituencies, the Election Commission has implemented special provisions for the elderly. Among these voters, 252 are centenarians and 15,709 are above 85 years old. For those who prefer to vote from home, the Election Commission has initiated a process to deliver ballot papers to their residences. Additionally, special transportation arrangements are made for voters who wish to visit polling stations in person.

These measures aim to ensure that every eligible voter, regardless of age or mobility, can participate in the democratic process with ease.
