Gas Racket Busted in Surat: Police Seize Equipment, Arrest 13

Kapodra police have unearthed a network of illegal gas refilling businesses masquerading as gas repair shops. In a 7-hour long operation, police teams raided 13 such shops and apprehended 13 individuals involved in the racket. They also seized sophisticated gas refilling equipment, along with 41 large gas cylinders and 5 smaller ones.

The raid was prompted by a tip received by Kapodra police, alleging that some shops in the area were illegally refilling gas cylinders under the pretense of repairs. Police formed four teams to investigate the information. During the raids, officers discovered that these shops were not repairing gas cylinders but instead, transferring gas from one domestic cylinder to another. This method of refilling is highly unsafe and could have resulted in a catastrophic accident.

The apprehended individuals are facing charges for illegal gas refilling and violations of the Explosive Substances Act. Police have vowed to take strict action against them. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with illegal gas refilling. The public is urged to only get gas cylinders refilled at authorized agencies and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
