Surat Police Clamp Down on Crime with PASA Detentions

Surat, Gujarat - April 19th: In a swift move to curb rising crime rates, Surat's new Police Commissioner, Anupam Singh Gehlot, has ordered the detention of 17 serial offenders under the Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA). This decisive action comes amidst a recent surge in vehicle thefts, mobile phone snatchings, assaults, rapes, extortion, and illegal liquor sales.

Determined to restore peace and order, Commissioner Gehlot has vowed strict enforcement against criminals. The 17 individuals detained by police were allegedly involved in multiple offenses and posed a significant threat to public safety. They have been sent to different jails across the state under PASA, which allows authorities to detain habitual offenders without trial for up to one year.

Furthermore, Surat police are actively pursuing the arrest of over 25 additional criminals involved in various crimes, including intimidation tactics. These individuals are expected to be relocated outside city limits to further disrupt their criminal activities.

"Our commitment is to completely eradicate crime in Surat," declared Commissioner Gehlot. "We will not tolerate any criminal activity within the city limits. Those who continue down a path of crime will face severe consequences." This strong message from the police commissioner serves as a reassurance to Surat residents and a stern warning to criminals operating in the city.
