In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Surat district election system has embraced innovative technology under the guidance of the State Election Commission to ensure a fair voting process and facilitate all citizens in exercising their franchise. Following the implementation of the code of conduct from March 16 to April 5, a total of 198 complaints were lodged in Surat via the C-Vigil mobile app and web portal, all of which were promptly addressed within the designated timeframe. The success of the C-Vigil platform highlights the role of technology in promoting fair and neutral elections.

The C-Vigil mobile application and portal are part of a range of facilities offered to voters and informed citizens through various applications and web portals. These platforms allow any vigilant citizen to report any observed violations of the code of conduct to the election administration. Reports can include photos and location details of the alleged violations, and the system is designed to resolve complaints within 100 minutes of submission.

The Surat district control room has received 198 phone calls from the public or voters, all of which have been recorded and addressed within the specified timeframe. Most of these calls were related to changes in election cards, address corrections, or other inquiries, all of which were duly registered and processed by the district control room.

To further enhance voter awareness, a special campaign will be launched to inform voters about the location of their respective polling booths. Additionally, the Surat District Election System has made provisions for drinking water, toilets, bathrooms, and shade at polling booths. A waiting room has also been set up where voters can bring their small children and attend to them conveniently, demonstrating the election commission's commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient voting process for all citizens.
