Surat Police Apprehend Suspected Drug Dealer in Althan

Surat Police have arrested a 29-year-old man, Dharma Sanjay Kumar Wanawala, on suspicion of drug dealing. The arrest comes as part of the ongoing "No Drugs in the City" campaign launched by the former Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar.

On the night of March 20th, officers pulled over Wanawala's car while he was travelling from Althan to Pandesara. A search revealed 13.00 grams of Mephedrone, a banned drug with an estimated market value of Rs 1.30 lakh, hidden in his jeans pocket. A further search of his residence in Pandesara uncovered a small electric fork, utensils, and a ziplock bag commonly used for packaging drugs.

Based on these findings and suspecting drug peddling activity, police detained Wanawala for questioning. During interrogation, Wanawala reportedly confessed to purchasing the drugs from the Bhathena area, also known as the "jungle," and intending to sell them in smaller quantities.

The investigation into Wanawala's activities and potential connections to a larger drug ring is ongoing.
