The Surat Under-23 cricket team put on a dominant performance in the semi-finals of the Reliance Inter-District Tournament, securing a place in the finals. The match, played at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Anand from April 18th to 20th, saw Surat defeat the Combine District team on the basis of a first-innings lead.

Dominant Batting by Surat

Electing to bat first, the Combine District could only manage 181 runs in 58.3 overs. Surat's bowlers were on fire, restricting the opposition with Nirmal Prajapati taking a four-wicket haul, while Kalp Jain and Krish Gupta chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply, Surat showcased exceptional batting prowess, amassing a mammoth 555 runs in 149.4 overs. Captain Krish Gupta led from the front with a scintillating 144-run knock, ably supported by Pavitra Patel's century (104 runs). Ronit Patel (53 runs) and Yash Desai (66 runs) also played crucial innings, solidifying Surat's dominance.

The Combine District's second innings mirrored their first, collapsing for 163 runs after losing seven wickets in 42 overs. Yash Desai continued his impressive performance, claiming four wickets for Surat.
